Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information National Recovery Directory collects, why, how long we keep it, and how to reach us with a privacy question.
Effective date: October 27, 2026
Information we collect
We collect only what you choose to send us. The contact and resource-suggestion forms ask for your name, email address, and an optional phone number, along with the message you write and, if you provide it, the name or link of the resource your message is about.
Browsing the directory requires no account and no personal information. You can search, open listings, and read every article on this site without submitting anything.
We do not ask for a diagnosis, treatment history, substance use history, or any other sensitive health information, and you should not include that in a form submission. Our forms are designed so a general question never requires it.
Contact form submissions
When you submit a form, your message is stored in our directory management system so it can be reviewed, tracked, and answered. A notification is also sent to the directory's mailbox so the message is seen promptly.
Submissions are visible only to the people who administer this directory. We use them to respond to you and, where your message concerns a listing, to correct the directory. We do not sell or rent contact information, and we do not use it for unrelated marketing.
Website analytics
We measure how the site is used in aggregate so we can improve it — for example, which pages are visited, how often the directory search is used, and which network sites visitors follow. These measurements are collected with privacy-conscious analytics tooling and are limited to non-identifying event data.
We deliberately do not transmit sensitive information through analytics events, and we never record the contents of submitted messages, search terms tied to an individual, or any health-related detail. Analytics data is not used to build advertising profiles on this site.
Where a region requires consent for analytics or advertising cookies, we configure those technologies to respect the applicable requirement, and we do not run advertising or remarketing technology on this site.
Cookies and similar technologies
The site uses the minimum storage needed to function — for example, remembering that a page state exists during your visit — and any analytics tooling that sets an identifier to distinguish returning visits from new ones.
You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking them does not prevent you from browsing the directory, searching for meetings, or reading any content.
Third-party links
This directory links to external websites, including official fellowship resources, government health agencies, and the other sites in the Find Your Recovery network. Those sites operate under their own privacy policies, and we do not control what they collect or how they use it.
When you follow a link to an external site, we recommend reviewing that site's own privacy policy. A link from this directory is not an endorsement of how the destination handles your information.
Data retention
Form submissions are retained for as long as needed to answer your inquiry and maintain a record of directory corrections. Directory listing records are retained while the listing remains relevant, with its source and verification history preserved.
You can ask us to delete a submission you sent. Where a request relates to a correction that has already been applied to a listing, we may keep the listing record itself while removing your personal details from it.
Information security
The site is served over HTTPS, form submissions are transmitted securely and validated on the server, and access to stored submissions is limited to directory administrators. We use spam protection on our forms, including a hidden field that only automated submissions fill in.
No website can guarantee absolute security. We take reasonable technical and organizational steps to protect the information we hold, and we review access as the directory grows.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to personal information we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. You may also have the right to object to certain processing.
Because the information we hold is limited to what you have voluntarily submitted, these requests are usually straightforward. Contact us at the address below and we will respond within a reasonable period.
Children's privacy
This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the directory develops. When we do, we change the effective date below. If a change materially affects how we handle submitted information, we will make that clear on this page.
Questions about privacy
Contact us at zac@findyourrecovery.com or 602-291-6582. For a correction to a directory listing, the resource suggestion form is the fastest route.
This policy describes our current practices. We are not claiming compliance with any specific healthcare privacy framework such as HIPAA, because this site does not provide healthcare services and is not a covered entity. We also do not claim that information is never shared: it is shared with the service providers that operate the site and store form submissions on our behalf.
This policy should be reviewed against the legal requirements that apply to the finished site before launch, including state privacy statutes and any jurisdiction-specific notices.
